Now the Summer and Autumn seasons are closing, we have a bit of time on our hands to think about improvements and changes as we look forward to next year. When we are not so busy looking after guests, we have some time to catch up on all the jobs that form a mental 'to do' list whist still keeping our reservations open: we are looking forward to welcoming guests over the next few weeks and between Christmas and the New Year.

Apart from the day to day maintenance jobs of things like touching up marked paintwork and checking for any fixtures that need replacement or repairs, we also spend time discussing changes for next season. One area that we have been looking at is the breakfast menu: in addition to the current selection of items we have decided to add some tasty extras: these will include offering a luxury hot chocolate drink at breakfast making a luxurious mug of rich cocoa topped with whipped cream and marshmallows; adding sliced avocado on sourdough toast to our lighter options; and introducing a vegetarian twist on our popular Eggs Benedict substituting a large mushroom instead of the bacon to be served with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce on a brioche bun.

Around the building there have been some subtle changes to our rooms, we have been working on some upcycled furniture to give some of the rooms a more individual 'boutique' look, all the door handles have been replaced to comply fully with fire access regulations, and we are replacing the lighting the Sitting Room, hallway and on the landing with some very elegant chandeliers which are far more in keeping with the age and elegance of the Victorian building. We have made some subtle changes with some new cushions, bedside lamps and bedspreads all in the effort of continually improving the guest experience and trying to create the 'home from home' feel we have been complemented on.

Now we are celebrating two years since taking over The Garway, (and realising how quickly the time has flown!) we thought it about about time to do something with our apartment on the lower ground floor, so we have had a new bathroom installed and doing a full redecoration of our living area to smarten all areas of the building.
